Images from the GF Smith Heritage Exhibition

For over 125 years GFSmith has consistently worked with the best graphic designers, photographers and artists. These collaborationshave resulted in a catalogue of truly groundbreaking and iconic promotional materials.
'Art on paper since 1885', is a retrospective of that body of work, and a rare chance to study this visual story of extraordinary design and marketing innovation.
The exhibition comprises of original printed pieces, displayed in 13 handcrafted oak cases and as framed works, by some of the greatest names in creative history, including Sir Peter Blake, Saul Bass, Peter Saville, Paul Rand, Milton Glaser and Rankin.
The GF Smith heritage show is a collection of paper promotions from c.1910 onwards. The show features the finest examples of paper industry marketing material from each decade of the company’s history since 1885.
The items in the exhibition reflect the fashions and aspirations of their time, as well as reflecting the progression of the design and print industries. A wealth of imagery, typography and print techniques highlight the versatility and desirability of the papers that carry them. This rare collection underlines the value of paper as a means of communication through the 20th century and up to the present day.
It takes the form of 13 freestanding museum style cases/tables, each 1500 x 750mm
