It is the final push to get everything installed and ready to open tomorrow night, and I expect EVERYONE without exception to be in for these two days helping to get ready.
The Exhibition arrives today so the Link Gallery must be set out.
Tomorrow it is the Project Space to get ready for the night.
We are expecting a lot of people and need to be ready. You have all been doing a fantastic job - but there a couple of people who need to take more of a fair share of the jobs.

Vanessa should have the 100 printed invites now.

Urjuan has the vinyl in hand for the windows and walls with a few amendments from me today.

Paul Haslam has agreed to speak for half an hour on Launch Night at 6.30pm.

I have sent the logo for Murray’s onto Urjuan to be added to the text to go on the wall vinyl in the Link Gallery.

• 30 vinyls will be digitally printed in CMYK by Murray’s on their Intaglio Press for the tables on the night. That will allow for mistakes as we assemble them. Murray’s will need a few days to turn round the print.
• I need the artwork tomorrow as a cmyk pdf.
•  We will need to score diagonally across the long edge from opposite corners so we stick one ‘triangle’ to the table with the ‘Working with Paper’ brand, and then have a description of the process stuck to thick colour plan to allow the other attached ‘triangle’ stand up.

I have asked for 150 sheets Cobalt Blue; 150 sheets Park Green; and 100 sheets Factory Yellow in 175gsm to cover the tables.

I have asked for 150 sheets Cobalt Blue and 150 sheets Park Green 700gsm in 630 x 960 sheet size for the hanging triangles.

The paper to be printed on is going to be a mixture of colours, make and weight. I have asked for:

• 3600 x A4 for 6 different designs (water based Screen printing; heat reactive Thermocromatic ink; and heat reactive Puff binding
• 1200 x A5 for 2 different designs (blind embossing; and Conductive ink pens including LED lights and batteries)
• 1800 x A6 for 3 different designs (Letterpress on the Adana; and Lasercut Lino printing)
• C4 envelopes for the 'goody bags’ -  400 x Cobalt Blue; 200 x Park Green; and 300 x Factory Yellow (amounts may be reduced).
• I have also asked about large piles of paper to put on the pallets.

Paper and envelopes will be with us hopefully by the end of the week.
We hope to get a box of Books, which would help explain the project to go on the magazine / book rack we had made for our Final Show we can tie them to as part of the exhibition.
Vanessa is chasing the films ‘Bright Red’ and ‘Making’ to put on a loop with our film.

The making day is Monday 29th, to test out the equipment and also start to make up some goody bags ready for the night.

The exhibition will arrive on Wednesday 1st October.

• I will some of you there, and I also need to organise caretakers and techs to help assemble it from 10.30am in the Link Gallery. Cases are heavy and will need their legs screwed on.
•  also need to organise them to help hang the triangles from the poles round the windows in the Link Gallery; and sofits in the Project Space.

Monday 15th update meeting

Where we are today:

• 100 x Invites left to screen print tomorrow with Letterpress printing starting on Wednesday with Liam in 205 Print room.

• T-Shirts will be started tomorrow hopefully and finished Wednesday / Thursday.

• Filming of the printing will take place Tuesday / Wednesday.

• Floor plans to be finished for Richard Hylton, including suggested colour walls.

• 'Working with Paper' foil block to be commissioned.

• After disscussion with Urjuan the design of the front windows have changed to 'Working with Paper' in yellow vinyl (Murrays?) on the front of the windows with coloured card triangles spinning behind. Testing needs to be done.

• This design will need to be replicated in the Project Space for the Launch Night.

Notes from the meeting 4th August

Meeting 4.8.14

    Aim of the meeting:

To progress the work ready for September.

·      Bec kindly sent in work on the identity and the way-finding positions around the campus.

·      We need to know how many way-finding signs for the floor (vinyl and on waterproof paper). This was not clear from the layouts sent.

·      Would Bec or people from the group be able to come into College on the 19^th August to discuss with Rose?

·      Charlotte and Katie bought their work with them.

·      Digital Invite to be produced as quickly as possible to be sent out. This will follow the printed items in style, and colour of the paper.

·      It has now been confirmed to use ‘Cobalt Blue’ and ‘Park Green’ as the main colours for the identity by duplexing the paper for the printed invite and using the web site to download the colours to match for the digital. ‘Factory Yellow’ will be used for the way-finding signs as an accent colour. This will be printed by Murray’s Printers (thanks to Vanessa arranging this) on the vinyl’s using ink to match the colour.

·      Text for the invite will be written and confirmed by Sallyanne, Rose and Vanessa. And sent by Wednesday to Katie and Charlotte.

·      Designs will be sent to Sallyanne and Rose by the end of this week for approval.

·      Screen-printing of 600 invites will be 19^th – 21^st August with help from Liz Wilson and Rose.

·      Chloe and Purna will come in to help Katie and Charlotte to do this.

·      Vanessa will need 100 printed items to hand out in addition to the digital invite.

·      Tables were discussed and a design identified for ‘pop up signs’ in the Factory Yellow possibly, to hold the information about each making table.

For over 125 years GFSmith has consistently worked with the best graphic designers, photographers and artists. These collaborationshave resulted in a catalogue of truly groundbreaking and iconic promotional materials.
'Art on paper since 1885', is a retrospective of that body of work, and a rare chance to study this visual story of extraordinary design and marketing innovation.
The exhibition comprises of original printed pieces, displayed in 13 handcrafted oak cases and as framed works, by some of the greatest names in creative history, including Sir Peter Blake, Saul Bass, Peter Saville, Paul Rand, Milton Glaser and Rankin.
The GF Smith heritage show is a collection of paper promotions from c.1910 onwards. The show features the finest examples of paper industry marketing material from each decade of the company’s history since 1885.
The items in the exhibition reflect the fashions and aspirations of their time, as well as reflecting the progression of the design and print industries. A wealth of imagery, typography and print techniques highlight the versatility and desirability of the papers that carry them. This rare collection underlines the value of paper as a means of communication through the 20th century and up to the present day.
It takes the form of 13 freestanding museum style cases/tables, each 1500 x 750mm

meeting with GF Smith reps 23.6.14

I met with Vanessa Osborne and Alyson Hurst on Monday 23rd to progress the plans for the exhibition. Here are some of the notes from that meeting:

Put opening times for the exhibition on the invite
Have 4 or 5 iMacs with the Colourplan site open in the Project Space for GF Smith staff to talk about 

• Do we want any with UCA on them? 

Students to wear lanyards with their passes to be easily identified on PV night? 
1st years help of the night? Designated to different areas for a specific time then others come to take over so all only 'work' for 30 mins each

UCA costs  4 hours 6 til 10pm to allow time to clear up.
